A person can make homemade ice cream shakes cheaper than purchasing them at your favorite local restaurant. When making your own milk shakes you can make them as thick or thin as you want, create your own unique flavors, and make them the size you want your milk shakes.

You can also make your own Blizzards or other types of novelty treats. These are not as hard to make as one would think. A little time and patience can create ice cream treats right in your own kitchen for a fraction of the cost.

Milk Shake Recipe

  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 6 to 8 scoops of ice cream (any flavor)
  • Blender
  • Glass

You will want to make sure the seal of your blender is in place before starting your milk shakes. When the seal on your blender is not properly in place, you will have a milk shake counter.

Add the 6 to 8 scoops of ice cream to the blender bowl. Add the 1/4 cup of milk. Put the lid on the blender bowl.
You will want to use the lower setting on your blender to mix the shake. You will want to mix until the consistency of a milk shake.

For a thicker shake: add more ice cream.

For a thinner shake: add more milk.

If you use vanilla ice cream as your base and you want to create different flavored shakes, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of your favorite ice cream toppings.

Novelty Blizzard Style Ice Cream Treats

With the novelty ice cream treats, you can add a wide variety of different fruits, candy bars or cookies to them.
You will start with the basic milk shake recipe listed above.

You will want to add 2 extra scoops to the milk shake recipe.

Blizzard Novelty Treats

These recipes are for one serving.

Banana Split

  • 1 banana
  • 4 strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons crushed pineapple
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup

banana splitCut a banana in half and cube one half.

Cut and quarter 4 strawberries.

Put the banana and strawberry pieces into the blender. You will blend until the fruits are in smaller chunks, about 3 to 5 seconds. Add the pineapple and chocolate syrup.

You will now add the milkshake ingredients plus two scoops of ice cream to the blender. Blend for 8 to 10 seconds or to the consistency of a thick milkshake.

Serve in a glass.

Cookie Blizzard

3 – 4 cookies Use your favorite kind of cookies for this one.

Crush the cookies in a plastic storage bag. About the size you will find in the bottom of a cookie bag.

Place cookie pieces in your blender.

You will now add the milkshake ingredients plus two scoops of ice cream to the blender. Blend for 8 to 10 seconds or to the consistency of a thick milkshake.

Candy Bar Blizzard

½ of your favorite candy bar cut into small chunks

Once you have your candy bar cut into small chunks, place in the blender and chop for 8 to 10 seconds.

You will now add the milkshake ingredients plus two scoops of ice cream to the blender. Blend for 8 to 10 seconds or to the consistency of a thick milkshake.

Now you have a few recipes to create your own homemade ice cream novelties for about half the cost of the ones purchased in fast food restaurants.
